Pillar of the Chicago experimental scene, ex-Tortoise, original member of The Roots, bassist for Matana Roberts, musician on Yanqui U.X.O. by GY!BE, Joshua Abrams & Natural Information Society will present the Montreal premiere of his new record. A group that creates a wide range of contemporary musics and methodologies including jazz, minimalism, and experimental rock. A consortium of heavy and dissonant drones and kinetic videos, Paysage Primitif brings together visual artist Guillaume Vallée and musicians Line Katcho, Maxime Corbeil-Perron, Jean-François Blouin, Guillaume Cliche and Félix-Antoine Morin, members of local exploratory emeritus collective Kohlenstoff. Member of Sea Urchins, the Tuscan Francesco Cavaliere will unfold electronic abstraction, avant-jazz and spoken word. And DJing before, between, and after: Montrealer Marie Davidson (Ninja Tune, DFA, Cititrax), who blurs her workaholic frenzy in an ad hoc ambient set.
