Évenement
Come and meet this feminist Montreal brass band made up exclusively of a dozen women and people of gender diversity. The band’s arrangements of popular songs are colored by an exhilarating, festive funk.
The Burning BRASs Band revisits various classics from the international popular music repertoire, as well as some pivotal pieces from the brass band tradition here and elsewhere.
Hear upbeat musical numbers from Lady Gaga to Stromae, with the unique sound of brass to captivate crowds and set the stage on fire.
This Montreal-based feminist brass and percussion band has been in operation since summer 2022. Its mission is to increase the place of women, non-binary and queer people on the local music scene.
The group aims to raise the status of brass band music. This little-known style in Quebec and Canada originally emerged in the colorful streets of New Orleans. The Burning BRASs Band wishes to perpetuate this tradition of festive music offered outdoors to the community, in order to participate in Montreal’s urban vitality and have a positive impact on the social fabric.
