Description of the organization

The Carrefour jeunesse-emploi (CJE) de Verdun is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support people aged 15 to 35 living in Verdun and L’Île-des-Sœurs in their professional, personal and social development, with a view to ensuring their well-being within the community. To achieve this, the CJE de Verdun offers consulting services, training and a variety of activities tailored to the specific needs of each individual, regardless of their socio-economic situation.

Job description

In order to promote the socio-professional integration of the clientele, the professional development counsellor will :

  • Conduct individual counseling interviews.
  • Identify and intervene on employment barriers.
  • Draw up individualized intervention plans.
  • Help participants learn and use job search methods, techniques and strategies.
  • Research educational and professional information.
  • Create and lead workshops and group activities to address specific psychosocial issues.
  • Follow up frequently with participants.
  • Establish and maintain good relations with community partners.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings.
  • Collaborate on special projects.
  • Compile client statistics and reports.

 

Requirements

  • Two (2) years in a similar position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in career development, counselling, social work, psychology or other relevant training.
  • Experience with clients presenting a variety of psychosocial problems.
  • Open-mindedness, versatility and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Bilingual (French / English)

Working conditions

  • Temporary, open-ended position of 70 hours every two weeks, Monday to Friday, during the day, and on a rotating basis on Tuesday evenings.
  • Salary: between $45,267.60 and $59,842.32, depending on experience and collective agreement salary scale.
